Wait
“Do you not know? Have
you not heard? The Lord is an everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the
earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He
gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but
they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with
wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not
faint.” Isaiah 40: 28-31
One attribute of the Holy Spirit that I have grown to love is
that He seems to never be in a rush. Even in high stress situations, He isn’t
rushing. He seems to have no problem waiting for the perfect timing and asks us
to wait too. I was talking with the Lord about waiting and this is what He
spoke to my heart.
“Anxiety, depression,
fear, loneliness, drunkenness, lust, they don’t know how to wait. They
might wait for a while, but once they see that you aren’t ceasing to wait, one
by one, will leave. Because God makes us holy as we wait. Those things aren’t holy,
nor can they be made holy; they are not capable to wait upon the Lord.
Eventually, they will get tired of being around someone who isn’t giving them
attention & they’ll leave.
And, there you will
wait, and the space in which you waited will become the most Holy of Holies
because there you will have communion with God. In that time, the wait won’t be
questioned. It will be obvious that the wait produced an atmosphere able to be
in company with God.
The enemy says things
like,
‘Hurry up and make a
decision because you are running out of time’
‘you missed your chance’
‘It’s now or never’
‘you missed your chance’
‘It’s now or never’
Now don’t get me
wrong, God sometimes speaks with urgency, but there is a difference and a Believer
can feel it in their spirit. Urgency from the Lord doesn’t involve guilt. Urgency
from the Lord is often accompanied by courage. Ask for this Courage & sing
in the waiting. The enemy already can’t stand that you are choosing to wait,
but singing while you wait won’t make him want to wait long with you.”
I picture us having two choices of how we can wait for the
Lord.
One way I picture waiting is sitting in the waiting room, on
your phone, fidgeting and anxiously waiting.
The other way is anticipatory waiting. I picture sitting
quietly and respectfully in a church service, with Jesus sitting there at the
front. He isn’t speaking but He is looking at who is in the crowd. While you
wait for Him to speak, memorize what He looks like, keeping your eyes locked to
Him the whole time. Some will get tired of waiting and get up and leave. For those who wait, however, God promises they shall mount up on wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Wait. It is not a punishment, my friends.
